Where does inorganic phosphorus come from?
Inorganic phosphorus comes largely from the natural breakdown of rocks that contain phosphate minerals. It’s also released by volcanic activity, the decay of plants and animals, and by microbes that break down organic phosphorus or dissolve minerals using enzymes and acids, adding phosphate to the soil and water for living plants and organisms to use.
How is organic phosphorus made available to plants?
Organic phosphorus becomes available to plants when soil microbes break down dead plants, animals, and other organic matter. During this process, which is called mineralization, microbes release phosphate that plants can absorb easily. BioSam’s BSI001-Phosphorus Uptake Booster helps this process by using beneficial fungi (endophytes) to improve root growth and nutrient absorption, which makes it easier for plants to access phosphorus in the soil.
